How to get to Plön

Plön is located in central Schleswig-Holstein about 80 km north of Hamburg, Germany's second-largest city.

There is a frequent train service from Kiel or Lübeck to Plön station operated by Deutsche Bahn. It's about 900m to walk from Plön train station up to the castle.

The nearest international airport is located in Hamburg (HAM). From Hamburg Airport, it takes about 2.5 h and 2 stops to get to Plön. Take the S-Bahn (suburban train) S1 to Hamburg Hbf (central station). Take a train to Kiel or to Lübeck. From there trains go to Plön. There also is an hourly bus service ("Kielius") from Hamburg airport to Kiel central station (bus stop between Terminal 1 and 2 in front of "Metropolitan Apotheke") with train connection to Plön. It's about 900m to walk from Plön train station up to the castle.
